The small Penneshaw township is perfect for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and relax in a virtually untouched, natural environment. The safe swimming beach of Hog Bay is within walking distance of Warrawee Cottage Kangaroo Island, as is the historical Frenchman's Rock and Baudin Conservation Park. Penguins can be seen after dark on this walk, however, for a better view, Penguin tours from Lloyd Collins Reserve in Penneshaw are highly recommended. For the fishing buffs, Penneshaw provides some good spots to throw a line in, including the Penneshaw Jetty and Christmas Cove, where salmon, tommy ruff and squid are regularly caught. Fishing charters are also available in Penneshaw and at nearby American River. Those who are sports minded will be satisfied by the nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, basketball rings and the large football oval all within the township. Groceries are readily available at the local shops, while meals can also be ordered at the Penneshaw Hotel, Seafront Resort and Pizza Bar. Internet access is also available at the
